This invention relates to a protein skimmer for use in purification of water by culture of fish or orther water organisms in a reservoir, aquarium or (2) with a circulation system comprising one or more discharge tubes (4) for water from the reservoir (2) to a pump (5) for circulation of the water, and a return tube (3) for water directly or indirectly from the pump (5) to the reservoir (2). The protein skimmer is characterized in that the return tube (3) comprises at least one generally horizontal, straight portion (90) having one or more upwardly directed side branches (9) which has an opening (91) leading to air, in which the generally horizontal straight portion (90) is arranged for rapid passage of the water past the side branch (9) and to have the water level at or above the intersection of the side branch (9) with the straight portion (90), and in which the side branch (9) is directed rearward relative to the direction of the water flow in the straight portion (90), and forms a first angle (v) with between 0~ and about 90~ with the straight portion (90). During water flow a protein foam will be formed at the water surface at the intersection of the side branch (9) with the straight portion (90) of the return tube (3), and that the protein foam is allowed to grow upwardly from the water surface for discharge through the side branch (9). The return tube (3) is further arranged for having the entirely or partially purified water to flow further through the straight portion (90) and back directly or indirectly to the reservoir (2). The invention further relates to a process for purification of water by culture of fish or other organisms in a reservoir (2), by means of a protein skimmer.
L'invention concerne un dispositif d'écumage de protéines utilisé dans la purification d'eau, mis en oeuvre dans la culture de poissons ou d'autres organismes aquatiques dans un bassin, un aquarium (2) ou avec un système de circulation comprenant au moins un tube d'évacuation (4) pour l'eau circulant du bassin (2) à une pompe (5), et un tube de retour (3) pour l'eau circulant directement ou indirectement de la pompe (5) au bassin (2). Le dispositif d'écumage de protéines selon l'invention se caractérise en ce que le tube de retour (3) comprend au moins une partie droite, généralement horizontale (90), pourvue d'au moins une branche latérale dirigée vers le haut (9) dotée d'une ouverture (91) sur l'extérieur dans laquelle est disposée la partie droite (90) pour permettre le passage rapide de l'eau dans la branche latérale (9) et pour que le niveau d'eau soit à une hauteur égale ou supérieure à l'intersection entre la branche latérale (9) et la partie droite (90), et dans laquelle la branche latérale (9) est dirigée vers l'arrière par rapport au sens d'écoulement de l'eau dans la partie droite (90), et forme un premier angle (v) compris entre 0· et environ 90· avec la partie droite (90). Pendant l'écoulement de l'eau, une mousse de protéines se forme à la surface de l'eau, au niveau de l'intersection entre la branche latérale (9) et la partie droite (90) du tube de retour (3). Cette mousse peut croître vers le haut à partir de la surface de l'eau afin d'être évacuée à travers la branche latérale (9). Le tube de retour (3) est également disposé de sorte que l'eau totalement ou partiellement purifiée s'écoule à travers la partie droite (90) et revienne directement ou indirectement vers le bassin (2). L'invention concerne également un procédé de purification d'eau mis en oeuvre dans la pisciculture ou l'aquaculture en bassin (2), au moyen d'un dispositif d'écumage de protéines.
