There is disclosed an improved pump (5, 5') particularly suitable for use in a method of "artificial lift" in an oil/gas well. Known pumps used in artificial lift methods suffer from a number of problems/disadvantages - e g low efficiency (hydraulic efficiency) The disclosed embodiments of the invention provide a pump (5, 5') which provides a positive displacement of a prede-termined volume of well production fluid for each operative cycle of the pump - in contra-distinction known to pumps which provide axial flow of well production fluid The inventive pump (5, 5') provides a chamber (10, 10') having a volume (V, V'), an inlet (15) to the chamber (10, 10'), an outlet (20) from the chamber (10, 10'), and means for varying the volume (V, V) of the chamber (10, 10') The means for varying the volume (V, V) of the chamber (10, 10') is controlled by relative rotation of first and second bodies (30, 35, 30', 35')
La présente invention concerne une pompe améliorée (5,5') particulièrement adaptée au procédé d'ascension artificielle utilisé dans les puits de pétrole et de gaz. Les pompes connues utilisées dans les procédés d'ascension artificielle présentent plusieurs problèmes ou inconvénients, par exemple un faible rendement (rendement hydraulique). Dans les modes de réalisation qui font l'objet de la présente invention, la pompe (5,5') entraîne le déplacement positif d'un volume prédéterminé d'un fluide produit par le puits pour chaque cycle de travail de la pompe, à l'inverse des pompes connues qui entraînent le flux axial du fluide produit par le puits. La pompe de l'invention (5,5') comporte une chambre (10,10'), une sortie (20) en provenance de la chambre (10,10') et un moyen permettant de varier le volume (V,V') de la chambre (10,10'). Le moyen permettant de varier le volume (V,V') de la chambre (10,10') est commandé par la rotation relative de premiers et de seconds corps (30, 35; 30', 35').
