Flow of a stream comprised of hydrocarbons is improved by introducing into the stream a stable, non-agglomerating suspension comprising: (a) water, (b) highly dispersed in the water, and substantially insoluble therein, and extremely finely-divided, non-crystalline, ultra-high molecular weight, hydrocarbon-soluble, undegraded polyalkene having 2 to about 30 carbon atoms per alkene precursor and an inherent viscosity of at least 20 dL/g, and (c) a small but effective amount of a surfactant having an HLB of at least about 9. The finely divided polyalkene is prepared by polymerization and then cryogrinding below the glass transition temperature of the polyalkene.

On facilite l'écoulement d'un flux d'hydrocarbures en introduisant dans ledit flux une suspension stable, non sujette à agglomération, contenant (a) de l'eau, (b) un polyalkylène non décomposé, fortement dispersé dans l'eau et pratiquement insoluble dans celle-ci, extrêmement finement divisé, non cristallin, de poids moléculaire très élevé, soluble dans les hydrocarbures, doté de 2 à 30 atomes environ de carbone par précurseur d'alcène et d'une viscosité inhérente d'au moins 20 dL/g et (c) une quantité faible mais efficace d'un tensioactif ayant un rapport hydrophile-lipophile au moins égal à 9 environ. On prépare ledit polyalkylène finement divisé par polymérisation puis par broyage à une température cryogénique inférieure à la température de transition vitreuse du polyalkylène.
