Compositions and methods for lowering the pH of soil are provided wherein the compositions comprise ammonium sulfate, elemental sulfur, and a micronutrient selected from the group consisting of zinc, iron, manganese, copper, boron, cobalt, vanadium, selenium, silicon, nickel, and mixtures thereof. In the preferred embodiment, the compositions are in granulated form and are applied to the soil so as to creat lower pH microenvironments within the soil without decreasing the pH of the overall bulk soil surrounding the microenvironments. In the microenvironments, the micronutrients are readily available to the roots of plants and are taken up by the plants with increased efficiency, thus reducing the quantity of micronutrients required to be applied to the soil.

Cette invention a trait à des compositions, et aux méthodes afférentes, permettant d'abaisser le pH d'un sol. Ces compositions renferment du sulfate d'ammonium, du soufre élémentaire et un micro-nutriment choisi dans le groupe constitué par du zinc, du fer, du manganèse, du cuivre, du bore, du cobalt, du vanadium, du sélénium, du nickel et par leurs mélanges. Dans le mode de réalisation préféré, ces compositions, qui se présentent sous l'aspect de granulés, sont déposées dans le sol afin d'y créer des micro-environnements à pH abaissé sans que pour autant le pH de la masse du sol entourant ces micro-environnements ne diminue. Au sein de ces micro-environnements, les racines ont facilement accès aux micro-nutriments dont la plante tire avantage de manière efficace, ce qui permet de réduire les quantités de micro-nutriments à déposer dans le sol.
