The effects of bad frames received over a communications channel by a speech decoder are concealed by replacing the values of the spectral parameters of the bad frames (a bad frame being either a corrupted frame or a lost frame) with values based on an at least partly adaptive mean of recently received good frames, but in case of a corrupted frame (as opposed to a lost frame), using the bad frame itself if the bad frame meets a predetermined criterion. The aim of concealment is to find the most suitable parameters for the bad frame so that subjective quality of the synthesized speech is as high as possible.
L'invention concerne une technique permettant de masquer les effets des mauvaises trames re×ues sur une voie de transmission par un d~codeur vocal, consistant ~ remplacer les valeurs des paramtres spectraux des mauvaises trames (une mauvaise trame ~tant soit une trame alt~r~e soit une trame perdue) par des valeurs reposant sur une moyenne au moins en partie adaptive de bonnes trames r~cemment re×ues. Cependant, dans le cas d'une trame alt~r~e (par opposition ~ une trame perdue), la technique consiste ~ utiliser cette dernire si elle satisfait ~ des critres pr~d~termin~s. L'objectif de ce masquage est de trouver les paramtres les plus adapt~s pour remplacer la mauvaise trame afin que la qualit~ subjective de la parole synth~tis~e soit la meilleure possible.
