An exercise device includes a frame (12) having a set of guide links (24, 26) pivotally supported thereupon. Each guide link supports a foot engaging support or link (28, 30) at one end thereof. The guide links are reciprocated back and forth by a set of intermediate links (40, 46) which engage a set of cranks or coupler arms (36, 38) which rotate about a second pivot point. A control link (44, 48) joins the foot link to the intermediate link and operates to vary the angle between the guide links and the foot links, as the guide links reciprocate. This device provides a very natural running and stepping action for a user who is positioned on the foot links.
Ce dispositif servant à s'entraîner comporte un cadre (12) présentant un jeu de barres de guidage (24, 26) montées pivotantes sur le dispositif et supportées par celui-ci. Chaque barre de guidage soutient, au niveau d'une de ses extrémités, un support de pied ou élément articulé (28, 30). Les barres de guidage sont animées d'un mouvement de va et vient, d'avant en arrière, par un jeu de barres de liaison intermédiaires (40, 46) couplées à un jeu de bielles ou bras d'accouplement (36, 38), lesquels tournent autour d'un second point de pivot. Une barre de commande (44, 48) relie le support de pied à la barre de liaison intermédiaire correspondante et a pour fonction de faire varier l'angle entre les barres de guidage et les supports de pied, lors du mouvement de va et vient des barres de guidage. Ce dispositif permet à un utilisateur, dont les pieds sont placés sur les supports correspondants, de courir et de marcher de manière tout à fait naturelle.
