This invention pertains to gas diffusion electrodes and diffusers with new improved structures suitable for systems using ion conducting membranes as the electrolyte, and automated methods of manufacture that lend themselves to continuous mass production. Unexpected improvements in gas and vapor transport through the electrode are realized by incorporating a new dispersion process in the construction, reformulating the applied mix with solution additives, and creating a novel coating structure on a conductive web. Furthermore, combining these changes with a judicious choice in coating methodology allows one to produce these materials in a continuous, automated fashion.
La présente invention se rapporte à des électrodes de diffusion de gaz et à des diffuseurs avec de nouvelles structures améliorées, appropriées pour les systèmes faisant appel à des membranes conductrices d'ions comme électrolyte, et à des méthodes de fabrication automatisées qui entraînent une production de masse continue. On obtient des améliorations inattendues dans le transport du gaz et de vapeur au moyen d'une électrode en apportant un nouveau procédé de dispersion dans la constitution, en reformulant le mélange appliqué avec des additifs de solution, et en créant une nouvelle structure de revêtement sur une bande conductrice.
