A process for the preparation of an alkoxylated sucrose ester having the general structure (see above formula) including the steps of: forming an initial reaction mixture of a sucrose ester and from about 0.01% to about 5% of a catalyst; and forming an initial reaction product by reacting the initial reaction mixture with an epoxide for a period of time in the range of from about 30 minutes to about 6 hours and at a temperature in the range of from about 80°C to about 120°C; wherein the epoxide and the sucrose ester are selected such that a mole ratio of epoxide groups to sucrose hydroxyls is from about 1 to about 100. Useful catalysts include sodium metals, potassium metals, sodium/potassium alloys, and mixtures thereof.
La présente invention a pour objet un procédé de synthèse d~un ester de sucrose alkoxylé comprenant les étapes suivantes : formation d~un mélange réactionnel initial comprenant un ester de sucrose et entre 0,01 et 5 % environ d~un catalyseur, et formation d~un produit de réaction initial en faisant réagir ledit mélange réactionnel avec un époxyde pendant une période de temps comprise entre 30 minutes et 6 heures environ, à une température comprise entre 80 °C et 120 °C environ. Dans cette réaction, l~époxyde et l~ester de sucrose sont choisis de telle sorte que le rapport molaire des groupements époxyde vis-à-vis des groupements hydroxy du sucrose soit compris entre 1 et 100 environ. Les catalyseurs utiles selon l~invention incluent le sodium métallique, le potassium métallique, les alliages sodium/potassium, ou des mélanges de ces composés.
