An improved telephone handset (30) for hearing-impaired persons. A passive device, in the form of an inductor (39) wound about a highly magnetostrictive core, is connected with the speaker (33) in the handset. The device has been found to improve intelligibility of speech delivered by the handset, when perceived by persons afflicted with certain types of hearing impairment.

Cette invention se rapporte à un combiné téléphonique amélioré (30) pour personnes malentendantes. A cet effet, un dispositif passif, ayant la forme d'un inducteur (39) enroulé autour d'un noyau hautement magnétostrictif, est connecté au haut-parleur (33) du combiné. Il s'est avéré que ce dispositif améliore l'intelligibilité de la parole transmise par le combiné, telle qu'elle est perçue par des personnes souffrant de certains types de déficience auditive.
