An improved pneumatic tool for the removal and application of tire cross chains configured having a manually actuated valve connected at its inlet port to a compressed air source and at its outlet port to a pneumatic diaphragm motor for actuation of a diaphragm. The control valve includes an air bleed port which allows air to escape through the valve when the trigger or other operating means is released deactivating the valve. This feature allows an almost immediate recovery of the jaws to the open position. The pneumatic tool for the removal and application of tire cross chains also includes a fixed jaw support assembly having a base plate for attachment to the face of the pneumatic diaphragm motor, the fixed jaw support assembly having a pair of upright members attached to the base plate and extending perpendicularly and in spaced apart relationship to one another to accommodate the attachment of the fixed and the moveable jaws between the two upright members thereto. This feature eliminates torque between the jaw assemblies and the pneumatic diaphragm motor when pressure is applied to the jaws.

L'outil possède une vanne actionnée à la main munie d'un orifice d'entrée relié à une entrée d'air comprimé et d'un orifice de sortie relié à un actionneur pneumatique à membrane. La vanne de commande comprend un orifice de sortie d'air qui permet à l'air de s'échapper de la vanne lorsque la gâchette ou un autre dispositif de déclenchement est actionné pour désactiver la vanne. Grâce à ce dispositif, les mâchoires peuvent reprendre leur position ouverte presque immédiatement. L'outil pneumatique comporte également un appui fixe pour les mâchoires. L'appui comporte une base pour la fixation à la face de l'actionneur, ainsi que deux éléments verticaux espacés, reliés à la base, qui se prolongent perpendiculairement l'un par rapport à l'autre, ce qui permet d'y fixer les mâchoires fixes et mobiles. L'appui permet en outre d'éliminer le couple entre les jeux de mâchoires et l'actionneur pneumatique à membrane lorsque les mâchoires subissent une pression.
