A vascular filter (10) comprises an emboli-capturing portion having a set of helical filter-wires (30) joined at a central region and extending in a given direction along the blood vessels (42) in a diverging relationship to the axis constructed to engage the walls of said vessel. A major mid-portion of the length of the free ended wires are of generally helical form, cooperatively related to form an effective emboli capturing array (26). Anchoring is accomplished by a separate assembly formed of struts (40) and anchoring devices (38). A parallelogram supporting strut assembly and other means for providing linear engagement with the wall of the vena cava are shown. The parallelogram structure is shown to have filter capability by itself as well.

Filtre vasculaire (10) qui comprend une partie destinée à intercepter des emboles dotée d'une série de fils-filtres hélicoïdaux (30) joints au niveau d'une région centrale et s'étendant dans une direction donnée le long du vaisseau sanguin (42) en s'écartant par rapport à l'axe du filtre, les fils se terminant par des extrémités libres conçues de manière à venir en contact avec les parois dudit vaisseau. Une partie médiane importante de la longueur des fils à extrémité libre est de forme généralement hélicoïdale. Lesdites parties médianes sont placées coopérativement de manière à former un ensemble (26) efficace d'interception des caillots. L'ancrage est effectué grâce à un ensemble séparé formé d'entretoises (40) et de dispositifs d'ancrage (38). Un ensemble entretoises de support en forme de parallélogramme et d'autres dispositifs destinés à obtenir une mise en contact linéaire avec la paroi de la veine cave sont décrits. La structure en forme de parallélogramme se révèle avoir à elle seule également des capacités de filtrage.
