The invention provides a wary coulter that produces a substantially uniform and constant furrow in the soil even during an extended use and wearing of the coulter, the wary coulter comprising a circular body having a peripheral edge and a central portion, a plurality of waves defining crests and valleys, each wave positioned along a line extending from the central portion to the peripheral edge, each wave defining a wave width that is substantially constant along a wave length from the peripheral edge to the central portion of the coulter body.
