The invention relates to first and second plate glass templates (12", 14") each having an outer smooth major surface (#1, #4) and an inner rough major surface (#2, #3), only each of the major outer smooth surfaces (#1, #4) being peripherally bounded by a chamfer (30, 36) formed at the cut edge. The first and second templates are joined together with the rough surfaces in facing retention.
