The invention concerns a method for processing seismic traces corresponding to two underground propagation modes, characterised by the following steps: determining, on the seismic traces corresponding to one or the other of the two modes, at least a pair of correlated events; determining the ratio of the differences between the vertical travel times Ts and Tp in domain S and in domain P, corresponding to said pairs of correlated events; determining the values of Ts and Tp over the interval defined by the two pairs of correlated events such that for the whole interval, the ratio rt = Ts/Tp is equal to the ratio Vp/Vs of speeds in domain P and in domain S and the mean value of said ratio r over said interval corresponds to the ratio of the differences between the vertical travel times corresponding to the two pairs of correlated events.

Procédé pour le traitement de traces sismiques correspondant à deux modes de propagation dans le sous-sol, caractérisé par les différentes étapes suivantes: on détermine, sur les traces sismiques correspondant à l'un et à l'autre des deux modes, au moins deux paires d'événements corrélés; on détermine le rapport des différences entre les temps de trajets verticaux Ts et Tp dans le domaine S et dans le domaine P, correspondant à ces paires d'événements corrélés; on détermine les valeurs de Ts et Tp sur l'intervalle défini par les deux paires d'événements corrélés de façon que pour tout cet intervalle, le rapport r t=Ts/Tp soit égal au rapport Vp/Vs des vitesses dans le domaine P et dans le domaine S et que la valeur moyenne de ce rapport r sur ledit intervalle corresponde au rapport des différences entre les temps de trajets verticaux correspondant aux paires d'événements corrélés.
