A frame over which woven wire mesh is to be stretched and secured to form a sieving screen and which can be used to screen solids from drilling mud recovered from down-hole when drilling for oil or gas. The frame is a rectilinear moulded plastics frame having edge regions by which it is secured in place in a shaker. Within the frame is a plurality of rectilinear windows formed by an orthogonal array of intersecting ribs also of moulded plastics material. Some of the ribs are internally reinforced by rigid metal members which extend orthogonally between hollow box-section members which define a sub-frame for reinforcing the four edge regions of the frame. The ends of the sub-frame members are joined at the four corners of the sub-frame. In this way not are only the edge regions of the frame reinforced internally but so also are some of the orthogonally intersecting ribs, so as thereby to produce a rigid frame for the screen. The internal reinforcement for those ribs which are to be reinforced may comprise hollow box-section metal members which may be of similar cross section to that of the sub-frame members, or the internal reinforcement for those ribs which are to be reinforced comprises metal I-beam cross section members, which typically have the same height as the height of the box-section members forming the sub frame.
L~invention concerne un cadre sur lequel un treillis en fils tissés est destiné à être tendu et fixé pour former un crible et susceptible d~être utilisé pour filtrer des matières solides de la boue de forage récupérée d~un trou de forage de pétrole ou de gaz. Le cadre comprend un cadre rectiligne en plastique moulé présentant des régions de bord par lesquelles il est fixé en place dans un trembleur. Une pluralité de fenêtres rectilignes sont formées à l~intérieur du cadre par un réseau orthogonal de nervures s~entrecoupant également constituées d~une matière plastique. Certaines des nervures sont renforcées intérieurement par des éléments métalliques rigides qui se prolongent orthogonalement entre des éléments à section rectangulaire creux qui définissent un sous-cadre destiné à renforcer les quatre régions de bord du cadre. Les extrémités des éléments du sous-cadre sont jointes aux quatre coins du sous-cadre. Ceci permet de renforcer non seulement les régions de bord du cadre renforcé intérieurement mais également certaines des nervures s~entrecoupant orthogonalement, et donc de fabriquer un cadre rigide pour le crible. Le renforcement intérieur des nervures à renforcer peut être constitué d~éléments métalliques à section rectangulaire creux qui peuvent présenter une section transversale similaire à celle des éléments du sous-cadre. En variante, le renforcement intérieur des nervures à renforcer est constitué d~éléments métalliques à section transversale en I, présentant typiquement la même hauteur que celle des éléments à section rectangulaire formant le sous-cadre.
