An ATM routing switch (21) has a plurality of output ports for handling digital signal cells on a first type requiring integrity of cell transmission and a second type accepting some loss of cells in transmission, the output ports having control circuitry (40) to provide a plurality of queues of cells at each output port, each queue comprising only cells of a single type while each port (30) outputs a mixture of cells of both types on a common output path (31) flow control indicators on incoming cells being used to inhibit output of cells along any path (31) to a destination for which a flow control indicator has indicated congestion.

Un sélecteur (21) d'acheminement MTA comporte une pluralité de points de sortie qui traitent des cellules de signaux numériques d'un premier type assurant l'intégrité de la transmission par les cellules et d'un deuxième type acceptant une certaine perte de qualité de transmission des cellules. Les points de sortie comportent un circuit (40) de commande qui produit une pluralité de files d'attentes de cellules à chaque point de sortie, chaque file d'attente ne comprenant que des cellules du même type alors même que chaque point (30) donne en sortie un mélange de cellules des deux types sur une voie (31) de sortie commune, des indicateurs de commande de flux situés sur les cellules entrant servant à empêcher la sortie de cellules sur n'importe quelle voie (31) vers une destination donnée comme encombrée par un indicateur de commande de flux.
