A connecting arrangement (10) for connecting hip rafters at the apex of a nipped roof comprises a plurality of hip rafter support members (12) which can be arranged sequentially around the apex of the roof. Each support member (12) comprises at least one outwardly extending member (18) and a carrier member (16) to carry the outwardly extending member (18). The, or each, outwardly extending members (18) are pivotally attached to the carrier member (16). The, or each, outwardly extending member (18) of each support member (12) is adapted to support a respective hip rafter such that adjacent outwardly extending members (18) on adjacent support members (12) can support the same hip rafter.
