Disclosed is a method of making an immunomodulatory composition to modulate the immune response against a disease marker, comprising: identifying the nucleic acid sequence encoding the disease marker by analysis of a suitable sample from a patient and extracellularly cloning therefrom; inserting said nucleic acid into a suitable vector; and administering said vector to a patient so as to cause expression of the disease marker in a form which interacts with the immune system. Also disclosed is a method of modifying the immune response of an individual and compositions for use in performing the method.
