A heating apparatus comprises an oil burner, a combustion chamber, a flue for passage of combustion products leaving the combustion chamber, in use, and a draught/flue stabiliser for controlling supply of exterior air to the combustion chamber and/or flue, the stabiliser incorporating a valve having a pivoted flap (18) arranged to close against offset part annular faces (19,20) and to open, to allow supply of said exterior air, in proportion to the increase in oil supply to said burner, such opening of the flap being controlled by a magnetic field whose strength varies also in proportion to said oil supply to the burner. There is also disclosed said valve per se for use at any fluid flow opening.
