A pintle wire for joining the ends of a fabric to form an endless belt comprises one or more strands, as a monofilament or a braided etc cable, in which the or at least one of the strands includes or is coated with a self luminous material so that the pintle wire can be seen in dark or poor light conditions to aid threading etc. The material may be luminescent, phosphorescent or fluorescent.
