The invention provides that a former (A, B, C) is used for forming scrolls from strip metal (30). The former has a scroll flight which is in two parts (A,B) which are relatively movable in the direction of the axis about which the former (A, B, C) rotates to coil the strip (30) about said flight (A, B) by drawing it radially into the former. In the first stage of the process the strip (30) is coiled about the inner part (A) of the flight, the outer part (B) being held displaced axially so as not to interfere with the initial coiling by the strip (30), until the strip (30) clears the end of the outer part (B) of the flight which then moves into the plane of the inner part (A) of the flight and coiling can continue onto the outer part (B). The apparatus also includes additional mechanisms for making circle and arches from the strip and for cutting, punching, twisting and right angle bending the strip from the same drive.
On décrit un gabarit d'enroulement (A, B, C) destiné à être utilisé pour mettre en forme des spirales à partir d'une bande de métal (30). Le gabarit d'enroulement présente une convolution de spirale en deux parties (A, B) qui sont mobiles dans la direction de l'axe autour duquel tourne le gabarit d'enroulement (A, B, C) de façon à enrouler la bande (30) autour de ladite convolution (A, B) en l'étirant radialement vers le gabarit d'enroulement. Dans une première étape du procédé, la bande (30) est enroulée autour de la partie interne (A) de la convolution, la partie externe (B) étant maintenue axialement de façon à ne pas perturber l'enroulement initial de la bande (30), jusqu'à ce que la bande (30) ait atteint l'extrémité de la partie externe (B) de la convolution, l'enroulement pouvant alors se poursuivre sur la partie externe (B). L'appareil comprend également des mécanismes supplémentaires destinés à former un cercle et des arcs à partir de la bande et à découper, à perforer, à tordre et à plier la bande selon un angle droit à partir du même trajet.
