A Dual Posture Electric Assist Bicycle (DPEAB) having handlebars and a seat both of which are adjustable and configured to suit either an upright or a recumbent posture without a rider dismounting. The handlebars are pivotable forwards and backwards about a friction joint, and are arrested in their fore/aft travel at adjustably positioned members adjacent the pivot and integral to the swivel mechanism. A "Pedal-Dock" feature is provided that selectively arrests crank rotation to prevent pedal grounding in recumbent mode while turning sharp turns and this pedal-dock may be operatively linked to the handlebar assembly's pivot angle. A fairing is provided that mounts rigidly to the front of the DPEAB's footrest assembly at its front end and to the back of the DPEAB's backrest at its rear end. A two-speed "virtual transmission" may be built into the DPEAB's direct drive hub motor that optimally employs "Delta-Wye" winding reconfiguration.
