An instrument, article and method are provided for minimizing pain during administration by injection of a liquid, such as, an anesthetic. The instrument has a forward end. A lightpipe mounted freely for vibration projects out of the forward end. The article, a single use tip, is composed of a tip sleeve removably mounted on the forward end of the instrument and a tip mem-ber removably mounted on the projecting lightpipe to vibrate a preselected injection site on a human or animal. The tip sleeve and tip member are covered by an elastic overmold that enables the tip member to vibrate freely with respect to the tip sleeve and light from the lightpipe to illuminate the injection site. A vibration unit mounted in the instrument is coupled to the lightpipe. The method is carried out by imparting vibrations and illumination via the lightpipe to the tip member.
La présente invention concerne un instrument, un article et un procédé permettant de minimiser la douleur lors de l'administration par injection d'un liquide, tel qu'un anesthésique. Ledit instrument comprend une extrémité avant. Un guide de lumière monté librement à cause des vibrations fait saillie hors de ladite extrémité avant. Ledit article, un embout à usage unique, comprend une gaine de protection de l'embout disposée de façon amovible sur l'extrémité avant de l'instrument et un élément de type embout monté de façon amovible sur le guide de lumière faisant saillie afin de faire vibrer un site d'injection présélectionné chez un être humain ou un animal. La gaine de protection de l'embout et l'élément de type embout sont recouverts d'un surmoule élastique qui permet à l'élément de type embout de vibrer librement par rapport à sa gaine de protection et à la lumière du guide de lumière d'éclairer le site d'injection. Une unité vibratoire montée dans l'instrument est couplée au guide de lumière. Dans le cadre de sa mise en uvre, ledit procédé implique la transmission de vibrations et de lumière par l'intermédiaire du guide de lumière en direction de l'élément de type embout.
