An improved diaphragm pressure balancing valve assembly comprising a valve body having inlet and outlet ports for the flow of water into the valve and from the valve to a shower or a spout, said body including an opening being generally cylindrical at one end thereof to receive a cartridge assembly, said cartridge assembly including inlet and outlet parts for alignment with the inlet and outlet ports of the body, said cartridge including a stationary pressure balancing device, namely a cylinder upon which rides a shuttle assembly including a diaphragm responsive to pressure differences causing the motion of the shuttle on the cylinder assembly, said diaphragm including a pressure balancing area at each side proximate the hot and cold water entry into the cartridge, the assembly including selective hot and cold water outlet ports in engagement with a disc assembly being moveable in relation to each of the hot and cold water outlet ports of the cartridge, each outlet being sealed by resiliently biased seals against which the disc presses, said disc being rotatable to and from positions allowing water to pass out of the cartridge, and then around the mixing chamber located between the body and the cartridge and subsequently exiting the valve to a spout or a shower, the disc being held in position and being press fit in engagement with a cartridge sleeve and with a stem portion of the valve, said cartridge being held in position by supplementary members of the housing for example including a trim nut and body nut to ensure a press fit between the members and the disc; wherein a much simplified, compact, cost effective device has been provided with the pressure balancing shuttle being substantially stationary as the valve is operated.
Il s'agit d'un ensemble amélioré de robinet d'équilibrage de pression à membrane. Ce robinet comprend un corps comportant des orifices d'entrée et de sortie pour l'écoulement de l'eau dans le robinet, et du robinet jusqu'à une douche ou un bec. Ledit corps comprend une ouverture généralement cylindrique à une de ses extrémités pour recevoir une cartouche. Ladite cartouche comprend des pièces d'orifice d'entrée et d'orifice de sortie pour l'alignement avec les orifices d'entrée et de sortie du corps. Cette cartouche comprend aussi un dispositif fixe d'équilibrage de pression, nommément un cylindre sur lequel se meut une navette qui comprend une membrane qui réagit aux différences de pression provoquant le déplacement de la navette sur le cylindre. Ladite membrane comporte une zone d'équilibrage de pression, de chaque côté proche des entrées d'eau chaude et d'eau froide dans la cartouche. L'ensemble comprend des orifices sélectifs de sortie d'eau chaude et d'eau froide, accouplés à un disque déplaçable par rapport à chacun des orifices de sortie d'eau chaude et d'eau froide de la cartouche. Chaque orifice de sortie est scellé par des joints décalés de manière souple contre lesquels le disque exerce une pression. Ce disque pouvant tourner entre les deux positions, l'eau peut sortir de la cartouche, puis autour de la chambre de mélange située entre le corps et la cartouche, et sortir par la suite du robinet par un bec ou jusqu'à une douche. Le disque est maintenu en place et s'ajuste avec serrage à un manchon de cartouche et à une partie de la tige du robinet. Ladite cartouche est maintenue en place par des éléments supplémentaires de l'enveloppe, par exemple, comprendre un écrou de garniture et un écrou de corps pour assurer un ajustement serré entre les éléments et le disque. Ainsi, on obtient un dispositif très simple, compact et économique, la navette d'équilibrage de pression étant sensiblement fixe lorsque le robinet fonctionne.
