A novel process and methodology in deterministic formation evaluation is provided. The formation evaluation results can accurately quantify formation attributes, such as clay-volume, clay-bound-water, effective-porosity and water saturation in shaly sands. Total-porosity is determined using porosity- logs, such as density, neutron and sonic logs. After clay-volume and total- porosity are determined, sand volume (quartz, feldspar, mica~) is the remaining part in the bulk formation evaluated, see Fig. 5.

L'invention concerne un procédé et une méthodologie d'évaluation de formation déterministe. Les résultats de l'évaluation de formation peuvent quantifier avec précision les attributs de la formation, tels que le volume d'argile, l'eau et l'argile liés, la porosité effective et la saturation en eau dans les sables schisteux. La porosité totale est déterminée au moyen de diagraphie de densité, de diagraphie de neutrons, et de diagraphie sonique. Après détermination du volume d'argile et de la porosité totale, le volume de sable (quartz, mica..) constitue la partie restante dans la formation globale évaluée.
