A B R E G E La présente invention est un générateur électrique de rayons infra-rouges pour chauffer sans danger un objet dans une atmosphère explosive tout en oxydant les gaz combustibles qui entrent en contact avec cet object pour purifier l'atmosphère. Un boîtier (2) contient au moins un émetteur (3, 4) de rayons infra-rouges à longueurs d'ondes courtes disposé à l'intérieur d'un réflecteur (5-6). Un matelas (8) de fibres réfractaires imprégnées de catalyseur est disposé devant chaque émetteur (3, 4). On obtient donc une émission de rayons infra-rouges suivant un large spectre. En outre des gaz combustibles contenu dans l'espace chauffé, peuvent s'oxyder au contact de l'écran (8) si celui-ci est imprégné de catalyseur.
