An environmentally accommodating, reduced NOx, spark (18a) or plasma ignited reciprocating multi-fuel engine utilizing direct, in cylinder, water injection (17) and an optional oxygen enriched air supply (10) is able to operate as an ultra-lean burn, high compression ratio engine for notable power output and increased efficiency.

L'invention concerne un moteur polycarburant, à mouvement alternatif, allumé par étincelles (18a) ou par plasma, à faible émission de NOx, acceptable du point de vue de l'environnement, dans lequel une injection d'eau (17) se fait directement dans le cylindre, et qui comporte un dispositif d'alimentation optionnel (10) en air enrichi en oxygène. Un tel moteur fonctionne avec un mélange très pauvre, présente un taux de compression élevé ainsi qu'une puissance utile importante et un rendement augmenté.
