In-line skate comprising a boot (2) attached to a top plate (4) of a frame (5) on which the skate wheels (6) are arranged, and having a braking device consisting of a friction component (13) linked to actuating mechanisms (14) placed between an articulated rear section (7) of the boot (2) and the said friction component (13) in such a way as to bring the latter into rubbing contact with the ground in order to brake when the said articulated section (7) of the boot (2) is tilted rearward by the skater, characterized in that the friction component (13) is connected to the actuating mechanisms (14) by means of amplifying devices designed to increase its travel in relation to that of the said actuating mechanisms (14).
