The present invention relates to a brake system for use on roller skates. The brake system is mounted at the rear of the skate and activated by the movement of the leg. In contrast to traditional designs, where the brake actuator is mechanically connected to the cuff of the skate, the present invention provides a design where the actuator is linked to the liner of the skate. This arrangement allows a more direct transmission of braking efforts thus allowing to better modulate the brake. In addition, a better brake feedback is possible so the user can have a more accurate feel of the amount of braking effort that is being applied. The invention also provides an improved cuff for a roller skate and an improved liner therefor.

L'invention concerne un système de freinage utilisable pour des patins à roulettes. Le système de frein est monté à l'arrière du patin et il est actionné par le mouvement de la jambe. Contrairement aux modèles classiques, dans lesquels l'actionneur du frein est connecté mécaniquement à la pièce couvrant la cheville du patin, l'invention est conçue pour que l'actionneur soit fixé à la garniture intérieure du patin. Cet agencement permet une transmission plus directe des efforts de freinage, ce qui permet de mieux moduler le freinage. En outre, une meilleure sensation est fournie en retour à l'utilisateur, lui permettant de mieux percevoir l'intensité du freinage appliqué. L'invention concerne également une pièce améliorée couvrant la cheville pour un patin à roulettes et une garniture intérieure améliorée pour celui-ci.
