A method and apparatus for providing uplink macro-diversity in packet-switched networks that allows packets and/or portions of packets, e.g., frames, to be selectively sent from an end node (200), e.g., wireless communication device or mobile terminal, over a set of multiple communication connections, e.g., physical-layer or link-layer connections, to one or more access nodes (300), e.g. base stations. Uplink macro-diversity is achieved in part through intelligent selective forwarding over multiple communication connections (402- 404), e.g., physical-layer channel conditions and/or higher layer policy. The forwarding decision executed on a rapid timescale, e.g. on a per packet basis, to adapt to the dynamically carrying conditions of the set of communication connections (402, 404).
L'invention concerne un procédé et un dispositif de macro-diversité en liaison montante dans des réseaux à commutation par paquets, permettant l'envoi sélectif de paquets et/ou de portions de paquets, par exemple, des trames, depuis un noeud terminal, par exemple, un dispositif de communication mobile ou un terminal mobile, à travers un ensemble de connexions de communication, par exemple, des connexions de couche physique ou des connexions de couche liaison, vers un ou plusieurs noeuds d'accès, par exemple, des stations de base. La macro-diversité en liaison montante est obtenue en partie grâce à un réacheminement sélectif intelligent à travers plusieurs connexions de communication, la décision du réacheminement étant commandée par le noeud terminal en fonction de divers facteurs, par exemple, en fonction des conditions du canal de couche physique et/ou d'un principe de couche supérieure. La décision du réacheminement est prise sur une échelle de temps rapide, par exemple, par paquet, de manière à pouvoir s'adapter aux modifications dynamiques de l'ensemble des connexions de communication.
