ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A portable device for producing and storing cal- cium chloride coated sand in situ is disclosed. A method of storing the coated sand is shown which comprises covering the sand with a plastic sheet which is then coated with a layer of plastic foam to protect the sand from moisture and to keep the cover in place. The components for coating the sand are mounted on a semi-trailer bed and are collapsable to a degree for quick transport from site to site.
