- 17 - ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method and apparatus for forming a thermoset in-the-mold coating on a hot, cured glass fiber reinforced thermoset resin substrate by (1) separating the mold halves slightly while maintaining a seal with the shear edge, (2) injecting an in-the-mold coating resin in a stream which flows parallel from the injector onto a surface of the substrate, and (3) closing the mold and curing the coating under pressure. The separation of the mold halves is performed by the conventional mold ram. Preferably the mold surface forming the coated surface of the substrate is roughened.
