This invention relates to compositions and methods useful for producing extrachromosomal DNA. More specifically, the present invention relates to compositions and methods for producing extrachromosomal DNA based on the unexpected discovery that the Pestalotiopsis fungi add one or more telomeric repeats to the ends of exogenous DNA.
