2126989 9314584 PCTABS00024 A Time Division Multiple access radiotelephone system has a base transceiver that receives speech from, and sends speech to, the Public switched Telephone Network. The base transceiver encodes (CO, DEC) the speech in a 20 ms recurrent time slot for each associated mobile transceiver. The mobile transceivers transmit to the base transceiver on a paired full duplex radio link.
