ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This disclosure relates to an incremental phase- tracking position measuring system in which an A.C. signal is generated by a resolver whose phase is a function of the angular displacement of a rotating shaft. A tracking counter, continuously counting, has an output connected to a register. The phase feedback signal, periodically loads the tracking counter output into the register. The binary contents of the register at the time of this loading is applied to a binary to pulse rate concerter which delivers output pulses as a function of the register contents. These pulses are delivered to the tracking counter to advance or retard counting to bring the zero state back to coincidence with the leading edge of the phase feedback error signal. The number of advance or retard pulses is then a function of the direction as well as the magnitude of the incremental angular displacement of the revolving shaft.
