Polyetherimide polymers prepared from monomers containing indane moieties are disclosed. The high molecular weight indane polyetherimides are transparent, ductile, and exhibit high glass transition temperatures (200 ~C). In addition, the polyetherimides are thermally stable at high temperatures and exhibit good optical properties making them useful in high temperature processing applications, in the fabrication of optoelectronics devices, and in optical applications.

L'invention se rapporte à des polymères polyéthérimides préparés à partir de monomères renfermant des fractions d'indane. Les polyéthérimides d'indane de poids moléculaire élevé sont transparents, ductiles et présentent des températures de transition vitreuse élevées (?200·C). En outre, ces polyéthérimides sont stables du point de vue thermique pour des températures élevées et présentent de bonnes propriétés optiques qui les rendent utiles dans des cas de traitement à haute température, dans la fabrication de dispositifs optoélectroniques et dans des dispositifs optiques.
