This invention relates to an indanone herbicidal composition comprising a compound having the general formula (See Fig. I) or (See Fig. II) wherein Y is an oxygen atom or a hydrazono group, R is alkyl or substituted alkyl, X is a hydrogen atom or is one to three substituents independently selected from the group consisting of halo, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl, alkynyl, haloalkyl, haloalkenyl, haloalkynyl, alkoxy, alkythio, alkylsulfonyl, alkylsulfinyl, phenyl, phenalkyl, phenalkenyl, phenalkynyl, cyano, haloalkoxy, 1,3-dioxalan-2-yl, hydroxyimino and nitro, and an agronomically acceptable carrier. The invention also discloses a method of use of these compositions.

La présente invention concerne une composition d'herbicide à base d'indanone comprenant un composé de formule générale (Voir Fig. I) ou (Voir Fig. II) où Y est un atome d'oxygène ou un groupe hydrazono, R est un alkyle ou un alkyle substitué, X est un atome d'hydrogène ou correspond à un à trois substituants choisis indépendamment les uns des autres parmi le groupe constitué des groupes halo, alkyle, cycloalkyle, alkényle, cycloalkyle, alkynyle, haloalkyle, haloalkényle, haloalkynyle, alcoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulfonyle, alkylsulfinyle, phényle, phénalkyle, phénalkényle, phénalkynyle, cyano, haloalcoxy, 1,3-dioxalan-2-yle, hydroxyimino et nitro, et un support agronomiquement acceptable. La présente invention porte également sur une méthode d'utilisation de ces compositions.
