Apparatus for verifying, validating and codifying an inductive card having a plurality of individual credit cells, each of which represent a credit value until burned out so that a partially used card has valid and burned-out cells. The apparatus includes a card reader having a plurality of sensors corresponding to the plurality of credit cells on the inductive card, a device for comparing the distribution of burned-out cells on the card with a standardized order of burning out cells in using the card, and an indicating device for showing the quantity of credit values available on the card and whether or not the card is valid. The card reader has a matrix of sensors arranged in columns and rows, a set of column drivers, a set of row drivers, and is capable of detecting the condition of each credit cell on the card. The apparatus has an independent power supply and the comparing device has a microprocessor with a keyboard and a ROM memory.
Installation destinée à contrôler les cartes de débit inductives par vérification de leur validité et du nombre de crédit contenus dans chaque carte. Cette installation comporte une tête de lecture/écriture (10) semblable à celles utilisées dans les téléphones publics à paiement par cartes de débit inductives, et des éléments auxiliaires tels que des circuits d'attaque en rangée (26) et en colonne (24), une unité d'affichage (29, 29') indiquant la validité et les crédits disponibles présents sur la carte, un détecteur (27) de l'état des cellules, une alimentation (31) indépendante de la ligne téléphonique, ainsi qu'un microprocesseur (21) et une mémoire ROM (22) stockant le programme et les données exploités par ledit microprocesseur. La validité de la carte est déterminée par comparaison de la position des cellules de crédit consommées avec l'ordre de consommation normalisé stocké dans ladite mémoire. Selon un second mode de réalisation, l'installation est pourvue d'un clavier (34) permettant à l'opérateur de gérer la consommation sélective des cellules de la carte.
