An indicating light for an optical display is disclosed and comprises a housing, a light-emitting diode and an electrical switch. The housing has electrical conductor parts. The diode is in a push element which has a translucent round head, a hollow rod with a first end area on which the push element is axially moveably located and wherein a second end area of the hollow rod is arranged in the housing. The switch is arranged in the hollow rod, in its longitudinal direction behind the light-emitting diode, and is operable by axial movement of the push element. A contact element disposed behind the light-emitting diode can be moved against a tappet of the switch and is arranged between the push element and the electrical switch.
