Abstract of the Disclosure Novel therapeutic effects of carnitine are described: 1. An enhancing effect in relation to human phagocytes, more par- ticularly granulocytes and furthermore an opsonin-like effect, on the bacteria employed as target cells. 2. A strong and specific activation of stimulation, induced by Phythemagglutinin, of human T-lymphocytes, an effect which was observed less specifically in the case of human B-cells. 3. A strong membrane activating effect on human NK cells and the corresponding target cells. 16
