A novel indicia device and a novel turnstile incorporating such device are both provided herein. The indicia device includes a tubular sleeve containing indicia and receivable about the arm, the tubular sleeve including an arm-receiving end and an opposing free end. Coupling means are provided for coupling the sleeve to the arm. The turnstile for carrying indicia includes a housing. An arm is rotatably carried by the housing, the arm having an arm-proximal end which is operable with, and is carried within, the housing, and an arm-distal end extending into a passageway which is adjacent to the housing for blocking passage of a person therethrough. A cover is slidably- disposed on the arm-distal end which is separated from the arm-proximal end for positioning within the passageway. Indicia is carried by the cover, the indicia being positioned for viewing by a person moving through the passageway.
