Description

36 ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A novel thymic factor isolated in purified form from mammalian thymus tissue which induces immature bone marrow cells to differentiate into competent suppressor T-cells (Ts) is described. The novel thymic factor, or inducer of T-suppressor cells (Ts inducer factor), has a molecular weight in the range of 45,000 to 70,000 daltons as determined by gel filtration, a pI of 6.6 to 7.2 as determined with an ampholine electrofocussing column, and is heat stable up to about 80°C.
