ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: An induction crucible furnace melts metal under vacuum or gas pressure. It consists of a pressure- tight vessel having an upper flange and an intermediate jacket received in the vessel; the jacket has an upper support ring overlying and terminating inwardly of the flange of the vessel. A crucible is received within the jacket and the induction means surrounds the crucible and is received within the jacket. A cover is fitted over the crucible, the jacket and the vessel, to make a hermitic seal.
