ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention concerns an electrical drive arrange- ment in which a polyphase electric motor can be braked by connecting the capacitor across the motor windings. A test system is provided to check that the capacitor is in a condition to effect braking, and the arrangement is such that the motor cannot be operated unless the test system indicates the capacitor is in a condition to brake the motor.
