An coin sensor utilizes time-multiplexing of LC oscillators having natural frequencies F1A, F1B, F2, and F3 to produce magnetic fields in three sets of windings. As a coin passes through the coin sensor, the LC oscillators are separately enabled in a sequence to produce a frequency profile for each set of windings. A first winding produces a frequency profile for a cross-sectional area of a coin, and a third winding produces a frequency profile for further distinguishing the relative size of a coin. A microcontroller identifies signatures points from the frequency profiles and compares the signature points with stored signatures for a multitude of coins and/or tokens.

L'invention concerne un détecteur de pièces utilisant le multiplexage temporel d'oscillateurs LC ayant des fréquences naturelles F1A, F1B, F2 et F3 pour produire des champs magnétiques dans trois ensembles de bobinage. Lorsqu'une pièce de monnaie passe à travers le détecteur de pièces, les oscillateurs LC sont activés séparément en séquence de manière à produire un profil de fréquence pour chaque ensemble de bobinage. Un premier bobinage produit un profil de fréquence pour la surface côté "face" d'une pièce, un second bobinage produit un profil de fréquence pour une surface de section transversale d'une pièce et un troisième bobinage produit un profil de fréquence permettant de détecter la taille relative d'une pièce. Un microcontrôleur identifie des points de signatures à partir des profils de fréquence et compare ces points de signature à des signatures enregistrées pour une multitude de pièces et/ou de jetons.
