ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A monopole antenna for mounting on a mobile vehicle includes a series fed whip that is inductively loaded to resonate at a frequency lower than the desired operating frequency. A capacitance is connected in series with the inductive load, with the inductance and capaci- tance combination being of a value to resonate below the desired operating frequency. The inductance-capacitance relationship may be varied to match the cable impedance to the impedance of the antenna.
