The invention concerns an inert tank for treating an oxidable liquid metal (3), comprising a metal tank body and lid internally protected with an inert refractory lining (1, 13), said tank body comprising a plurality of inlets and outlets (17) for the liquid metal such that they avoid all contact between the liquid metal (3) placed in the tank and the external environment, the inerting system comprising at least two of the following devices: a) an additional sealing shell (4, 15) enclosing the tank body metal wall (2, 14), the resulting double additional shell containing a dry gas; b) an inflatable joint (20) between the lid and the tank body; c) sealing means (34-36, 40-46) on the assembly of removable and/or movable auxiliary equipment (gas injector, heating element, thermo-elements and others) passing through the lid and optionally a pressure regulating device (25-27) for adjusting the internal pressure to a value higher than atmospheric pressure.

Cuve inertée pour le traitement de métal liquide (3) oxydable, comprenant un corps de cuve métallique et un couvercle protégés intérieurement par un garnissage réfractaire (1, 13) inerte, ledit corps de cuve comportant une pluralité de trous et des moyens d'entrée et de sortie (17) du métal liquide tels qu'ils évitent tout contact entre le métal liquide (3) situé dans la cuve et l'atmosphère extérieure, l'inertage comportant en général au moins deux des dispositifs suivants: a) une surenveloppe étanche (4, 15) entourant la paroi métallique (2, 14) du corps de cuve, la double surenveloppe ainsi obtenue contenant un gaz sec, b) un joint gonflable (20) entre le couvercle et le corps de cuve, c) des moyens d'étanchéité (34-36, 40-46) sur l'ensemble des équipements auxiliaires amovibles et/ou mobiles (injecteur de gaz, élément chauffant, thermocouples, etc.) traversant le couvercle et optionnellement un dispositif de régulation de pression (25-27) permettant de régler la pression intérieure de la cuve à une valeur supérieure à celle de la pression atmosphérique.
