A B S T R A C T An inflatable closure member suitable for use in conjunction with a restraining means to provide a sealed enclosure around a joint between at least two cables, for example pressurised telephone cables, comprises flexible wall portions which are precoated with sealing material so that when the closure member is wrapped around a cable splice and is then surrounded by a restraining means, inflation of the closure member forces the said coated wall portions against the cables and against each other in the areas adjacent to the cables, thus creating and/or improving a seal between the cables and the closure member.
