An inflatable cushion (20, 20a, 100) has a first panel (22a) and a second panel (22b) attached together generally along a peripheral edge joint (30) to form an inflatable cushion. Each of the first and second panels includes a first layer (24) formed of a flexible, structural material and a bondable layer (26). A reinforcement (50) for preventing the peripheral edge joint (30) from failing has a first strip (52a) of material having a structural layer (24) and a bondable layer (26), and a second strip (52b) of material having a structural layer and a bondable layer. The first and second strips are overlaid and sewn together at a seam (56a). The seam separates each of the strips into two portions, such that the structural layers face each other and the bondable layers face outwardly abutting a corresponding bondable layer of one of the first and second panels.
L'invention concerne un coussin gonflable (20, 20a, 100) comportant un premier pan (22a) et un deuxième pan (22b) fixés ensemble généralement par un joint (30) longitudinal périphérique de façon à former un coussin gonflable. Chacun des deux pans comprend une première couche (24) constituée d'une matière structurale souple, et une couche (26) pouvant être liée. Un renfort (50) empêchant une rupture du joint (30) longitudinal périphérique comporte une première bande (52a) de matière qui présente une couche structurale (24) et une couche (26) pouvant être liée, ainsi qu'une deuxième bande (52b) constituée d'une matière présentant une couche structurale et une couche pouvant être liée. La première et la deuxième bandes sont superposées et cousues ensemble à une couture (56a). La couture sépare chacune des bandes en deux parties, de sorte que les couches structurales se font face et que les couches pouvant être liées se trouvent dos à dos et touchent une couche pouvant être liée correspondante de l'un des deux pans.
