The invention provides a hydraulic anchor packer for use in a well bore comprising an inflatable packer element (36) incorporating a cylinder (38) and an elastomer sleeve (44) provided on the exterior surface thereof. The elastomer sleeve (44) is retained by retaining means adjacent the cylinder (38) at the end portions of the sleeve (44) but free of the cylinder (38) intermediate the end portions. An aperture (48) is defined by the wall of the cylinder (38) for connecting the exterior of the cylinder (38) in a region where the elastomer sleeve (44) is free thereof to the interior of the cylinder (38). The anchor packer further comprises means (60, 62) for causing fluid from within the cylinder (38) to flow through the aperture (48) and between the elastomer sleeve (44) and exterior surface of the cylinder (38). The means (60, 62) is thereby adapted to radially expand the elastomer sleeve (44). Means (56) is further provided for trapping fluid which has flowed into the chamber between the elastomer sleeve (44) and the cylinder (38) to prevent relaxation of the elastomer sleeve (44). The invention has the advantage over the prior art of providing a hydraulic anchor packer which is simple and inexpensive to manufacture and use, and which is suitable for use in both cased and uncased well bores.

L'invention concerne un packer hydraulique à coins d'ancrage, conçu pour être utilisé dans un puits de forage et comprenant un élément de packer gonflable (36) comprenant un cylindre (38) et un manchon en élastomère (44) prévu sur la surface extérieure dudit cylindre. Ce manchon en élastomère (44) est retenu par des moyens de retenue contigus au cylindre (38) au niveau des parties d'extrémité dudit manchon (44) mais est indépendant du cylindre (38) en position intermédiaire par rapports aux parties d'extrémité. Une ouverture (48) est définie par la paroi du cylindre (38) et sert à relier l'extérieur du cylindre (38), dans une zone dans laquelle le manchon en élastomère (44) est indépendant du cylindre, à l'intérieur du cylindre (38). Ce packer à coins d'ancrage comprend, de plus, des moyens (60, 62) servant à provoquer l'écoulement du liquide depuis l'intérieur du cylindre (38) à travers l'ouverture (48) et entre le manchon en élastomère (44), ainsi qu'entre la surface extérieure du cylindre (38). Ces moyens (60, 62) sont, de ce fait, adaptés pour dilater radialement le manchon en élastomère (44). De plus, un moyen (56) sert à piéger le liquide qui a pénétré à l'intérieur de la chambre entre le manchon en élastomère (44) et le cylindre (38), afin d'empêcher le relâchement dudit manchon (44). Ce packer selon l'invention présente l'avantage, par rapport à l'équipement déjà existant, d'être simple et économique à fabriquer et à utiliser et peut être mis en application dans des puits de forage tubés ou non.
